Burton Park Wanderers 3 - 2 Amersham Town
This was not Amersham’s finest hour. They lost to a team which had won only one game all season, had a man sent off and then conceded the deciding goal in added time.
Yet it all started so well. The game was only a few minutes old when Alfie Hall played a good ball to Harry Bennett who in turn hit an angled shot into the corner of the net. Burton Park then came back into the game and Town keeper Oliver Keil had to be alert with a number of smart saves.
Seven minutes before half time Burton equalised and then took the lead just before the interval. But soon after the restart Amersham pulled their way back into the game when the Barton keeper failed to clear his lines leaving Jordan Toomey a simple tap in.
It looked as if the game was heading for a draw when, after eighty minutes, Town’s Conrad Holland was sent off for a second yellow card. That encouraged Burton to press forward and they found the winner in added time when a Burton forward dribbled past two defenders to slot home.
