AMERSHAM OUTPLAYED BY CLASSY PENN & TYLERS GREEN

AMERSHAM TOWN 0-6 PENN & TYLERS GREEN FC

The only consolation for Amersham Town, as they were comprehensively beaten by Penn & Tylers Green, is that their new management team of Dwaine Bryan and Derek Powell will have no doubts about the amount of hard work and some recruitment that will be necessary if relegation is to be avoided.

The game could hardly have had a worse start for Amersham Town. After only five minutes a corner from the right flew right across goal and was headed home by the unmarked Joe Dulieu. Slack marking was again in evidence twenty minutes later when Penn’s Rashid Hamid outfoxed his defender and crossed for Dean Allen to power a header past Alex Clarke in the Amersham goal. At the other end Amersham were unlucky when Malick Doumbia crossed from the bye line and Reon Thomas and a defender went for the ball which bounced up, hit the cross bar and was cleared for a corner.

It was, however, a brief reprieve as Penn & Tylers added two further goals before the break. After thirty six minutes a poor clearance out of defence by Amersham was followed by some slick interplay between the Penn forwards resulting in Tom Field slotting home. Three minutes later another poor clearance enabled Field to lob the ball over the defence and past Clarke.

Town came more into the game after the break, ‘though they were indebted to a couple of fine saves by Clarke. Penn, however, were not having matters all their own way and keeper Jamie Britnall also exhibited some fine athleticism to repel shots. Nevertheless, Amersham conceded a further goal on sixty six minutes when a cross ball found Hamid who easily beat his marker to shoot home. The scoring was completed four minutes later when, from twenty eight yards out, the Penn player curled a free kick around the wall and wide of Clarke’s dive.

Amersham Town: Clarke, Symons, Mistretta, Hagan, Peacock, Aldridge, Littleboy, Deritis, Thomas, Madeinlo, Doumbia.

Subs: Ankrah, Beaumont, Wallace, Devall Johnson.
