ATFC To Host Ukrainian Refugee Charity Match

Kick Off: 7.30pm on Thursday 28th April.

A veterans soccer match, with all proceeds going to the Ukrainian Refugees, will take place at Amersham Town’s ground, Spratleys Meadow (HP7 0EJ), on Thursday 28th April, kick off 7.30pm.

Organiser Steve White explained “In the Chesham Sunday League in the 1980s and 90s there was a team called Chesham Nomads who, in 2019, held a thirty year reunion. We agreed that it would be a good idea to field an over-50s side against a Sunday League representative side.

With the advent of the refugee crisis we all felt that the match should be converted to a game whereby all proceeds go towards the Ukrainian refugees. Amersham Town has agreed to host the game and Chesham United will also be promoting it. The Chairman of Amersham Town, Simon Damery, will be playing as will numerous other locals. The bar will, of course, be open and there will be a burger van at the ground.”

Steve explained that all those attending would be asked to donate £5 to the cause and the players will each be paying £10 to play. He added that “We have all seen the plight of the refugees on television and it seemed right that we should help. This is a very worthwhile cause and I hope that the people of Amersham and Chesham will come along and support us.”
