Town battle for three points.

Amersham Town 3: Park View 2.

AmershamTown have now taken seven points out of the last nine. These three were particularly hard earned. The two games this season have not been friendly, totalling three red cards and enough yellow to paint Ringo Starr’s submarine.

The match started badly for Amersham. After only three minutes a Park View corner from the left was cleared beyond the penalty area only for George Alfieri to smash an unstoppable shot over Mackenzie Taylor in the Amersham goal. Another Park View long shot then drifted just wide.

Amersham enjoyed most of the possession but Park View were always looking to use the long ball to release their speedy forwards. From one such foray only a beautifully timed tackle by Town’s Luke Symons prevented a clear shooting chance. Town, however, equalised on eighteen minutes. Tom Littleboy was brought down as he advanced down the left. His perfectly flighted free kick was met at the near post by Alec Wallace who deflected it home. Two minutes later Town took the lead with an excellent goal. Wallace on the left slipped the ball to Mikey Hagan who, in a mazy run, beat three defenders before passing to Reon Thomas whose fierce low shot gave Park View keeper, Daniel Conteh, no chance. Park View then made their task more difficult when George Alfieri was dismissed for violent conduct.

The second half started in much the same fashion as the first. This time it was only one minute before Park View scored. A corner on the right passed across the Amersham goal allowing an unmarked forward at the far post an easy tap in.

For the next quarter of an hour much of the play took place in midfield with neither keeper unduly troubled. On sixty minutes, however, Wallace cut in along the byline and was only foiled at the expense of a corner. From the resulting cross Town defender, Jack Aldridge, timed his run to perfection to power a header past Conteh and into the back of the net.

There was still time for Tom Littleboy to be dismissed, again for violent conduct, before the referee brought proceedings to an end.
