Stotfold 2 - 1 Amersham Town

Although top of the table Stotfold dominated this game a dogged performance by Amersham kept the score respectable. They could even have gained a draw ìn injury time from a Harry Bennett free kick which went just past the post.

Amersham made their usual slow start as, inside the first five minutes, Stotfold hit the bar with a header. On twenty eight minutes the home side scored from a corner when Bradshaw tapped the loose ball into the net

Amersham had their first shot on goal five minutes into the second half through Nick Kerley. Shortly after he went off injured to be replaced by Harry Bennett. After thirteen minutes of the half Stotfold scored from another corner when Bradshaw, at the far post, headed the ball home. John Nott was sent off for something he said to the ref and Amersham were forced to play the last 25 minutes with ten men.

Amersham pulled a goal back on 75 minutes when Harry Bennett, at least 50 metres from goal somehow lobbed the goalie who was well off his line: a tremendous effort. Amersham held out to the final whistle with goalkeeper Ollie Keil pulling off a number of top saves before Harry Bennett’s late effort just went wide.
