Heading 1
Amersham Town FC are delighted to announce the arrival of Jason Owens and Alfie Sanger to the first team setup for the season. 2025 / 26. Jason takes on the role of first team manager (left), while Alfie steps in as first team head coach (right).

Jason brings a wealth of experience, having spent the last ten years at British Airways FC. The club was particularly impressed with his professional approach, tireless work ethic, and wide-ranging player network at this level of the game. ATFC are confident he will be a strong addition as the club continues to push forward.Their tenure began with an open player trial in mid-June, followed by an intense evaluation period to determine the squad ahead of pre-season, which began in early July (see the ATFC website for details).
I caught up with Alfie Sanger to talk about the season ahead, his approach to youth development, and what excites him about joining Amersham Town.
What attracted you to the position of Head Coach at Amersham Town FC?
“It’s a really friendly club with friendly people. It’s in a nice area, and it was something that when Jason messaged and asked if I wanted to help him out, it was quite an easy decision because Jason is a really good guy as well; he's good at what he does. So, everything just kind of shifted together really well for me.”
What’s your approach to youth integration over the season?
“It’s going to be a young squad (the first team) for sure, so we are definitely going to utilise the link with the under-18s. After being involved with the under-18s last year, I get along well with the management there, and so the pathway is always there for the under-18s that are doing well, and the chance will be there for them to step up into the first team. I’m sure this will happen sooner rather than later.”
What support do you require from the club’s management and fans to achieve Amersham Town’s goals in the 25/26 season?
“Everyone is going to play their part, no matter what it is, whether it’s as a supporter or a committee member, board member, or volunteer; everyone’s going to have a really big part to play.
If you get the right people through the door, which we’ve already got around the club anyway, then you are on the right track.”
How do you plan to uphold the club’s history and traditions for the upcoming season?
“Amersham Town has been known to be a friendly club, and nothing needs to change. There are people in the building, like Mike, Bryan and Peter, who have been at the club for a long time. If they stay in the door, we will have no problem upholding the club’s history and traditions.”
Alfie is currently studying for a coaching degree at UCFB and already works almost full-time in coaching roles. His commitment and enthusiasm are clear — and just like the fans, he’s ready for the season ahead.
